Oxley Renewal Project

Project Management Services

As part of the Wolverhampton Signalling Programme, YeboCl provided Project Management services through Network Rail for GRIP 5-8 contract for the Oxley Renewal Scheme. Oxley PSB (BY PSB) is located adjacent to the West Coast Main Line (WCML) at approximately 46+¾ miles. Several previous projects have completed various works adjacent to/within BY PSB control area. This included West Coast Route Modernisation (WCRM) schemes WBA (EE32) and MK-B (W186). Under these projects, the majority of the WCML between Euston and Rugby was modernised to replace the existing life expired infrastructure and meet phased commitments of improved line speeds, capacity, journey times and reliability.

The renewal was condition led, driven particularly by the safety issues associated with the state of the existing equipment and a lack of spares for the geographical interlocking at BY PSB. The signalling equipment in the BY PSB control area is life expired with target renewal dates between 2008 and 2012. There are also plain line track and S&C renewals imminent. This project combines the need for renewals with some specific enhancements and rationalisation of the track layout.

  • Reduce the amount of infrastructure to improve maintainability and reliability.
  • Provide 775m stabling facility for regulation and HABD inspection on the Oxley Arrival Line.
  • Provide 12 car standage in platforms 4 and 5 to supplement existing 12 car capability in platforms 1, 2 and 3.
